ibis budget Gent Centrum Dampoort

Loved the helpful staff and the strong location is nicely placed to not be too expensive or too far from the attractions.. you can grab a shawarma or do groceries as Carrefour is closeby..Cross the bridge, walk 10 mins and you're in the ghent city center. Even there was a mosque nearby!

Very impressed with this hotel.. Check in was very efficient. The room was clean but very basic and small… but we didn’t mind that at all.. The public areas had a great atmosphere in the evening.. The breakfast was very good value for 16 euros, so much choice.. It was within easy walking distance of Gent.. On approach from walking from the train station I had my doubts about where this hotel was situated… It looked like it was in the middle of nowhere.. But once you’re in the hotel you can exit to walk to the city from another entrance which was perfect…

Staff friendliness, common area, breakfast and in house resto. The staff goes out of way to make you comfortable and to help you with anything. One of us left a key inside the bag they locked, the staff were kind to help navigate this situation. Location is great next to gent dampoort station and also the flixbus point, would stay again if we visit gent again. We had in house dinner on one night and didnt expect much, but it was fantastic. The vibe was lively and you have many guests chilling down or playing games, which gives a good cosy feel.

We came to Ghent for the weekend with the child and were given a family room with a double bed and an additional single bed, neatly hidden in a closet. It could be unfolded and put away to save space. The room was small but very clean, and the location was close to the train station, with the city center about a 20-minute walk away. The stylish lounge has a bar and a café for breakfast, and you can also buy some food and drinks. I think the best price-quality option for a couple of nights!

I've avoided Ibis hotels for many years after several not great experiences. Only booked this as all other options were far too expensive and I have been very very VERY pleasantly surprised. The whole hotel has a great feel to it, the restaurant is great (fabulous pizza) there are good facilities and it's spotlessly clean. The bed is comfy and the shower good. The room is small (as described though) but well designed. Plenty of snacks etc for sale in reception too. I may have to lift my Ibis boycott based on this stay!
